Unified inbox

One inbox for every channel your customers already use.

Texts, WhatsApp messages and Instagram DMs land in one shared workspace instead of three apps and five phones. Each thread is tied to the right contact and deal, so whoever replies has the full story.

The job it does

From five places to check to one place to work.

Most small teams don’t choose to be scattered. A WhatsApp number lives on the owner’s phone, the business line forwards texts to whoever set it up, and Instagram DMs are read by whoever opens the app first.

Without it

  • Messages split across personal phones, a business app and social inboxes
  • Nobody can tell whether a customer already got an answer
  • Context lives in someone’s memory, or in screenshots
  • When a customer switches channels, the conversation starts over

With inChat

  • Every connected channel arrives in one team inbox
  • Each thread shows its owner, status and last reply
  • Contact, deal and history sit next to the conversation
  • A customer who texts and then sends a WhatsApp message is still one record
Capabilities

What unified inbox includes.

All channels, one list

WhatsApp and SMS first, with Instagram next. Filter by channel when you need to, or work everything together.

Matched to the right person

Incoming messages are matched to existing contacts by phone number or handle, so history isn’t split across duplicates.

Team views

New, mine, unassigned and waiting on us. Each person starts the day from the view that matches their job.

Search across everything

Find a conversation by customer name, phone number, message text or deal, whichever channel it came in on.

Context in the thread

Reply with the whole customer in view.

The conversation is the middle of the screen. Everything you’d otherwise look up sits beside it: who the customer is, which deal they’re on, what was promised last week and which teammate spoke to them before.

  • Contact details and custom fields beside every thread
  • Open deals and their stage, editable without leaving the inbox
  • Earlier conversations on other channels in the same timeline
  • Internal notes that customers never see

How it works

Getting started, step by step.

  1. Connect your channels

Link your WhatsApp Business Platform number and business texting number. Provider approval and registration steps are part of setup.

  2. Invite the team

Everyone who talks to customers works from the same inbox, with their own views.

  3. Set simple rules

Decide who gets new conversations by channel, team or topic. Unassigned threads stay visible until someone takes them.

  4. Work from the thread

Reply, add a note, update the deal and set the next follow-up in one place.

Unified inbox FAQ

Questions about unified inbox.

What it does, how it’s designed, and what’s still being decided.

Ask us something else

WhatsApp and SMS are the launch channels and are in development. Instagram is planned next after launch, and Messenger and Telegram are on the roadmap. Email and website live chat are under consideration and not scheduled. Each channel page shows its current status.

A shared inbox lets several people work one channel together. A unified inbox also brings several channels into one place. inChat aims to do both, and ties each conversation to CRM records. The glossary has a longer explanation.

Business messaging through the WhatsApp Business Platform works differently from the WhatsApp Business app. Whether one number can be used in both depends on Meta’s current rules and your provider. We’ll confirm the options with each early-access team during setup.
