Your campaign worked: people messaged. Now make sure someone answers.
An Instagram post, a click-to-WhatsApp ad, a “text TOUR to…” sign. Marketing’s job ends at the message, but the result depends on what happens next. inChat is being built so campaign conversations reach sales with their source captured, and you can see what each channel produced.
inChat is in early access. Features shown are in development.
Message leads fall into the gap between marketing and sales
Form leads arrive with UTM tags and land in a CRM. Message leads arrive as a DM or a text, often with nothing but “how much?” The source gets lost, the handoff is informal, and marketing can’t tell which campaign produced the conversations that turned into sales.
- 01
The source disappears
A lead who tapped a click-to-WhatsApp ad looks exactly like one who found your number on a business card. Unless someone records it, the campaign gets no credit.
- 02
Handoffs are informal
Marketing watches the Instagram inbox and forwards promising DMs to sales over chat. Some get picked up; some sit until the lead goes cold.
- 03
Reporting stops at clicks
Ad platforms report clicks and conversations started. What you need is how many of those conversations became tours, bookings or sales.
A handoff process for campaign conversations
This is the routine inChat is designed to support, from the first message to a report marketing can use.
Give each campaign a recognizable entry point
Use a prefilled first message in click-to-WhatsApp ads or wa.me links (“Hi, I saw the spring open house”), a keyword for SMS, or a specific prompt on Instagram. That gives the team something to recognize.
Record the source on the contact
When the conversation arrives, set a Source and Campaign field. The channel is captured automatically; the campaign is set by the first person who handles the thread, or by a workflow rule matching the prefilled text (automation, in development).
Hand off by assignment, not by forwarding
Marketing assigns the conversation to a salesperson, or a rule does. The lead stays in the same thread; the salesperson sees the campaign context.
Let sales take it from there
The salesperson qualifies, creates a deal and moves it through the pipeline. The Source field stays on the record.
Review results by channel and campaign
Analytics (in development) is designed to show conversation volume by channel and conversion through the pipeline. Filter by your Campaign field to compare campaigns.
An open-house campaign at a wedding venue. Marketing tagged the campaign and handed off in the same thread. When Sofia books, the deal will still carry its source, so the open house gets the credit.

Read about automation- There are no ad-platform integrations. inChat doesn’t connect to Meta, Google or other ad accounts, doesn’t import ad IDs automatically and doesn’t send conversions back. Campaign attribution relies on fields your team or rules set.
- Instagram DMs are planned next after launch, not available at launch. WhatsApp and SMS are launch channels in development.
- inChat isn’t a bulk messaging or broadcast tool. Marketing messages over SMS and WhatsApp have consent and opt-in requirements, and WhatsApp marketing messages need approved templates. Check with your provider or counsel; rules change.
- Analytics and workflow automation are in development.
Marketing teams: your questions.
What inChat is designed to do for marketing teams, and what’s still being decided.
Ask us something elseNot automatically. There are no ad-platform integrations. The practical approach is a prefilled first message or keyword per campaign, recorded in a Source or Campaign field by your team or a workflow rule (in development).
inChat is built for one-to-one conversations, not bulk sending. Use a dedicated tool for broadcasts, and make sure replies come back to the number your team answers in inChat.
Instagram DMs are planned next after launch. SMS and WhatsApp are the launch channels, both in development.
Analytics, in development, is designed to cover conversation volume by channel, response time and conversion through the pipeline. Filtering by a campaign field lets you compare campaigns.
